You need to have days like this, otherwise how would&#13;<br \/>you know when you are happy? You appreciate your good days even&#13;<br \/>more when you have the occasional bad day for contrast. What is&#13;<br \/>black without white? &#13;<\/p>\n<p>Even though sadness is a part of life, let&#8217;s try to make it a small&#13;<br \/>part of life. &#13;<\/p>\n<p>With that said, here are a few tips to help you feel better when&#13;<br \/>you are feeling down in the dumps. They are easy to practice every&#13;<br \/>day, and they work! &#13;<\/p>\n<p>1. Stand up straight and sit up straight. When your body is in&#13;<br \/>alignment your energy can flow and when your energy is flowing&#13;<br \/>freely, you can flow. &#13;<\/p>\n<p>2. Smile! Yes, just smile. Easy to do and effective.  This&#13;<br \/>technique can also change the way others react to you, which can&#13;<br \/>further elevate your mood.&#13;<\/p>\n<p>3. Repeat positive affirmations. Things like &#8220;I feel good&#8221;,&#13;<br \/>&#8220;Positive energy flows through my body&#8221;, &#8220;I see the good in all&#8221;. &#13;<br \/>Always phrase your affirmations is a positive way.  For example, &#8220;I&#13;<br \/>hate smoking&#8221; becomes &#8220;I love taking deep breaths of fresh air&#8221;. &#13;<br \/>One more very important thing about affirmations, you must infuse&#13;<br \/>your affirmations with emotion.  This is the key to making&#13;<br \/>affirmations work.&#13;<\/p>\n<p>4. Listen to some music that you like. It doesn&#8217;t have to be&#13;<br \/>anything specific, just something you enjoy. Certain types of music&#13;<br \/>work better than others, so experiment and see what works for you.&#13;<br \/>Studies have shown that classical music and new age music work&#13;<br \/>best. &#13;<\/p>\n<p>5. Take some &#8220;me&#8221; time.  Indulge yourself in something you enjoy,&#13;<br \/>such as: &#13;<br \/>     Relax and read a book.&#13;<br \/>     Take up a hobby&#13;<br \/>     Slip into a bubble bath &#13;<br \/>     Watch a sunrise or sunset&#13;<\/p>\n<p>6. Meditate. Meditation is an excellent habit to develop. It will&#13;<br \/>serve you well in all that you do. If you have a hard time sitting&#13;<br \/>still, then try some special meditation CDs that coax your brain&#13;<br \/>into the meditative state. Just search for &#8220;meditation music&#8221; on&#13;<br \/>Google or Yahoo and explore. &#13;<\/p>\n<p>7. Exercise.  This doesn&#8217;t have to mean pumping iron!  Even&#13;<br \/>something as simple as taking a walk will get your blood flowing. &#13;<br \/>Believe me, you will feel better.  &#13;<\/p>\n<p>Our outside world is simply a reflection of our inside world.&#13;<br \/>Remember there is no reality just your perception of it. Use this&#13;<br \/>truth to your advantage. Whenever you are sad, realize that you&#13;<br \/>have the power to change your perception. &#13;<\/p>\n<p>These tips will lift you up when you are down, but don&#8217;t just use&#13;<br \/>them when you are sad. Try and practice them every day, make them a&#13;<br \/>habit. You will be surprised at how these simple exercises will&#13;<br \/>keep the blues away. &#13;<\/p>\n<p>On a final note, if you are in a deep depression that you can&#8217;t&#13;<br \/>seem to shake, please go see a doctor.
